GENERAL RULES

  • 1. Users must bring their Identity Card to access resources, services, and facilities offered by the Central Library. Users will not be allowed to use the Central Library in the absence of the Identity Card.
  • 2. Central Library resources such as books, journals, electronic materials, etc., are costly and often rare. Therefore, users should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage the resources in any form. If users are found doing so, they will be penalized as per the rules of the Central Library.
  • 3. Books removed from the shelves by students should be kept on the table nearest to them if not required for reference. Users are advised not to shelve them on their own. Keep the books on the reading table only
  • 4. Users shall not bring personal belongings (including Books and other printed material) and Central Library books borrowed by them inside the Central Library
  • 5. Don't use cell phones in the Central Library. Keep your cell phone in silence mode.
  • 6. Users shall not engage in conversation in any part of the Central Library which will create annoyance to any other readers. Users shall observe silence in the reading halls.
  • 7. Users shall not smoke, or spit in any part of the Central Library.
  • 8. Users are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the Central Library and shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the Librarian.
  • 9. The users caught tearing pages/stealing books will be suspended for using the Central Library facilities and further, disciplinary action will be initiated against them by the University and also the borrower shall either replace the book within 15 days or pay seven (7) times the cost of the book as well as same for multi volumes set of books.
  • 10. The Central Library is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings kept at the property counter. The users are prohibited/discouraged to leave any valuables at the checkpoint. Hence, readers are advised not to keep any valuable items such as money, mobile, jewelry, passport, credit card, etc. at the property counter
  • 11. Users leaving the Central Library should stop at the exit so that the materials borrowed or taken out of the Central Library by them are checked by the security personnel.
  • 12. A borrower should not borrow documents in other’s name
  • 13. Users are advised to report any mutilation found in books before borrowing, otherwise, the last borrower is liable to pay for damages when the books are returned and/or the Central Library authority finds the mutilation.
  • 14. Upon any infringement of the Central Library rules, users shall forfeit the privileges of admission and membership of the Central Library
  • 15. The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the Central Library staff, or behaving indecently.
